The agonizing toll of racism

There is a gap of 14 years life longevity between uneducated black men and highly educated white men in the US. There is a gap of 10 years life longevity between uneducated black women and highly educated white women. This difference is carefully documented by MacArthur Foundation research, and is deeply painful to me. How is it that we continue to support structures of institutionalized racism that reinforce this gap, rather than seek to end it? Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy.
