When stereotypes become dangerous

I have to admit that I really didn’t expect this. Which perhaps goes to show how naive I remain, in terms of believing most Americans are capable of seeing beyond stereotyping. How is it that what, by many accounts, is a boringly mundane reality show about Muslim Americans, is under attack for not portraying them as bound to terrorist interpretations of Islam? I suppose I like Jon Stewart’s take the best, because perhaps his humor can help us see truth. But if we don’t, we are one step further down a very dangerous path. All people of faith, regardless of our tradition, ought to be speaking up about this!
