I don’t want to lose this quote, which concludes Diane Winston’s chapter “Teach your children well: Closing observations on constructing religious identity in the next generation,” in the book Passing On the Faith:

Hope is what has animated this conference -- the hope that we can learn across religious divides and share strategies for change. Even more important, it's a hope that we can give our children intimations of the divine, appreciations for their community, and a sense of wonder for creation and the mystery of unconditional love.
