Thank you, God, for Oma
Alex just called me from Vienna. Oma passed on this morning, leaving us for the peaceful rest and joy she so deeply deserves. My faith tells me that she is alive and in joy, but I am deeply sad. Here is how I will remember her:

With you I give thanks that Oma now rests and lives in the eternal joy and peace of Christ, but I am also deeply sorry for your loss, and sad for your deep sadness. I can't help but think of what a blessing your sabbatical was, giving you all that precious time to live with Oma in Vienna. I hope those memories are graciously washing over you and sustaining you, even in the midst of your sorrow. May you find comfort, in this Easter season, in God's promise of resurrection, not only for Oma, but also for you. And basking in the light of that promise, may you trust that Oma's death is not goodbye forever, but is truly "auf Wiedersehen."
Yours in Christ,
Catrina
