Women at seminaries

/ 27 January 2010

Pretty Good Lutherans has been doing some counting lately. First, of women in religion departments at ELCA affiliated schools. Then, at ELCA seminaries. If I’ve done the math properly (which I can’t guarantee!), the roster from highest percentage of women on the faculty to lowest percentage agmonst the seminaries, goes like this: PLTS 66%, Trinity 56%, Lutheran Southern 55%, Gettysburg 54%, Wartburg 50%, LSTC 47%, Luther 43%, Philadelphia 35%. (At least, based on the numbers PGL offers.) Of course, our numbers at Luther are going to take a severe hit this spring with both Diane Jacobson and Jan Ramsey retiring…

I'd be VERY curious what the count would look like at these schools in terms of faculty of color.
