More great questions
I regularly use Stephen Brookfield’s “critical incident questionnaire” in my classes. The five questions he asks there —
- when were you most engaged?
- when were you most distanced?
- what action was affirming?
- what action was puzzling?
- what was surprising?
</ul>
are a great way to "take the temperature" of a class, and get a sense of what is going unsaid, or might be brewing for later discussion. Here's another great set of questions I just happened upon, that might be worth sharing across and between classes:
- What are you working on this week?
- What question has been top of mind for you this week?
- How have you been learning or sharing learning this week?
- What are you most grateful for this week? </ul>
