Embodied Lord’s Prayer

In my introductory class I often use a "dance anthem" version of the Lord’s Prayer to help students experience the power of kinesthetic knowing. Now Vibrant Faith Ministries (formerly the Youth and Family Institute) has put up a Lord’s Prayer "karate kata." Interesting. I don’t think I find it as persuasive? But then, I am also not a martial artist!

As someone who studies martial arts, I'm actually a bit disturbed. I do like the irony in the second video on the decalogue. On "thou shall not kill" there is a strong heel-palm to the face, perhaps not a killing blow, but certainly one that could maim.

Ah! That helps to explain what I found problematic... thanks for commenting!
