Vampire analysis

/ 7 August 2009

Here’s the best analysis I’ve read yet of the surge of books and tv shows about vampires. I will admit to enjoying (after some initial lack of interest), the Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight books. And now I’ve also enjoyed Nora Roberts’ circle trilogy and Kim Harrison’s take on vampires. By far my favorite, however, is Octavia Butler’s Fledgling.

In the tv realm, Buffy is still my hands-down favorite (although I haven't yet seen True Blood?). Anyway, this del Toro and Hogan essay is fascinating, and I think it makes a lot of sense.
