Edinburgh 2010

/ 14 May 2009

There was a World Mission Conference that took place in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1910 that brought together some 1,200 representatives mainly linked to the Western missionary movement. In addition to its focus on evangelism, the historic gathering emphasized cooperation and unity. As such it has since come to be the symbolic starting point of the modern ecumenical movement. In 2010, representatives from churches around the world will once again gather in Edinburgh. Towards that end, the WCC is hosting a website chock full of resources — including several blogs on the study theme topics — through which people will collaborate.
