Thank you Katie Korpi!

/ 8 May 2009

Tonight our whole family went to Katie Korpi’s Performers for Peace concert, which was her senior project at Avalon. I haven’t had such a wonderful, rich, heart-filled, passionate, yearning, powerful experience in a very long time. It reminded me of what it was like to be a young, idealistic activist in college, hearing Ferron for the first time. I was so glad that Alex and Nathaniel could have such an experience now, rather than having to wait for college.

The whole group of performers tonight was amazing, but two singer-songwriters, in particular, are people I'm going to follow -- Chastity Brown and Ellis. It's late, and it's been a long day for me, but you can be certain that I'll be writing more about these two amazing women in the days to come. Keep your eyes open for them, and if they come anywhere near you -- check them out!
