Fundamentalism and culture

I don’t know enough history and sociology and anthropology to judge this argument — and I’d also like to know who’s making it — but here’s an interesting “take” on why fundamentalism is on the rise in some places and not others. Frankly, I’m pretty sure it’s on the rise here in the US, too, which might be a counter argument to this one.
