Math facts my son would agree with

My 10 year old son, showing what I think is remarkable maturity, told his uncle yesterday that he used to hate math, but that recently he’s decided NOT that he hates math, but just that he hates “rocket math” (which is a timed form of arithmetic facts practice). Still, it bugs me that rocket math has become such a big part of his 4th grade experience — and this post makes me even more frustrated!
