Como Se Dice, Como Se Llama? Obama

Ok, my Spanish is not so great, and I’m the last person to claim that I would know what works in various Spanish-speaking communities. But a friend sent me this link to a song/video for Obama in Spanish (thanks Bob!). Most of the song is a kind of a refrain — “como se dice como se llama, Obama, Obama.” Which, roughly translated by me, is something like “how you say it, how you are named”? Or by the automatic translators, “as they say it as they call it, Obama.”

I’m very curious how much resonance this song has for people for whom Spanish is a primary language. One thing I noticed is that the lyrics to the song go down a long list of communities —

OBAMA! OBAMA!
Puerto Riqueños, como se llama?
OBAMA! OBAMA!
Los Peruanos, como se llama?
OBAMA! OBAMA!
Los Colombianos, como se llama?

And that simple effort -- to speak Spanish AND to recognize that the Spanish-speaking communities in the US are a diverse bunch -- strikes me as very powerful. There's also a link at the YouTube song site to this site, which has further music on it. Again, I claim no knowledge about how these materials will work in Spanish-speaking communities, but I'm sure interested in finding out from my friends in those communities! And my hunch is that, if there are people creating these pieces (like will.i.am created the "Yes We Can" song) from within those communities, then the energy is spreading and the creativity continues!
