Books of hope

I live with a deep sense of “eschatological hope,” built on the stories and images of people who have been the hands and eyes and ears and hearts that God uses to create in the world. Rebecca Solnit has put together a lovely list of books that share such tangible stories of hope from human history (but this is not an explicitly religious list).
