Happy Birthday weblog!

/ 17 December 2007

Today is, by some accounts at least, the 10th anniversary of the term “weblog” — and probably close to that, the anniversary of the genre itself. When I started blogging, back in March of 2003, there were only a few weblogs I followed, and most of my colleagues and friends had no idea what weblogs were all about. Now there are more than 200 weblogs I subscribe to (although I clearly don’t read them all every day!), and I doubt I have any colleagues who don’t at least know what the term refers to. So… Happy Birthday Weblog! and best wishes for at least another ten years of supporting widespread participation in public discourse.
