Lutheran identity

It’s fun to read a Lutheran theologian, teaching at an ELCA seminary, write that “I remind the students that when they are ordained or commissioned, they will promise to teach and preach in accordance with the Lutheran Confessions, and not Luther’s corpus.” Not that my own colleagues here don’t say that — I imagine they do! — but sometimes that message doesn’t quite come through for our students…
