Prayers needed…

For the past several weeks we’ve been praying hard for my brother-in-law Louie, who is at the Mayo Clinic in Florida, awaiting a liver transplant. He’s still waiting, and we’re still praying. Then, this afternoon, I learned that a dear colleague of mine, Rolf Jacobson, is facing major surgery for cancer next week at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I’m grateful that the excellent care of the Mayo Clinic exists for them, and that CaringBridge sites have been set up for both of these friends of mine — BUT I WISH THEY WEREN’T NECESSARY! Please let any prayer circles you’re involved with, know that Louie and Rolf (and their families) need their help.

Dear Mary, Prayers are going out to Rolf Jacobson and to your brother in law, Louie. Our hearts and understanding are with you and them.

Unrelated Question: You are the best person I can think of to ask this -- Can you give some nervous parents advise on how to handle the myspace.com among our kids? All my best, Terri Speirs

PS Who am I? Spouse of a former student.

Hi Terri-- Of course I remember you! And having been praying hard over time, both for you and for Bob. But anyway, as to MySpace, I suppose it depends what parents are nervous about! It's ALWAYS important to keep an eye on what your kids are doing, and to be alongside of them as they try new things. With MySpace the best way to do that tends to vary with the age of the child. If you do a search of my blog (just use the search box in the upper right hand corner) using "myspace" as the keyword, you'll find links to lots of useful posts. But can you be more specific about what's worrying the parents you're in contact with? Then I can be more specific in help! Thanks for the question -- and the prayers!
