TEEM reality web… dreaming!
I just had a brief — but energizing — iChat with dydimustk who mentioned the dream of a TEEM reality web series. Given that TEEM (Theological Education for Emerging Ministries in the ELCA) has traditionally supported leaders in so-called "minority" communities (rapidly becoming majority!), I like the idea already. If we could stretch the program to also include the work of emerging churches, imagine what could result.
So, all of you out there thinking along these lines, help dydimustk and me think about what it might look like. If we can dream, we can create!

And yet it's the institution that has most often prevented such ministries from thriving. So there's a paradox of sorts built into the process.
I think any and all ways that we can document and share stories are important, and given my own interest in digital media, I'm personally psyched about photos, vlogs, and so on. That's part of why www.feautor.org is so important to me!
I am thinking/reflecting/acting along these lines as well and I am wondering about the ways that would best support these candidates. I most often consider this "holistic" set of questions:
How do we (the church) care for the spiritual longings of these candidates given the extraordinary nature of their work?
How do we support their physical needs?
How do we support their social needs - specifically networking / support?
While those are fear-based q's for me as I find myself entering candidacy (TEEM) and beginning work in creating a new community that explores "terra nova", I am also curious how we could document the stories of those who try it first. Lewis & Clark (I know...BAD analogy...) provided some key insights by documenting their journey.
How?
Photography (Photo journal / image-theology / creative theology...
Video journaling? - Podcasting conversations between those trying this new model...seeing where experiences overlap or are unique...
Is this helpful?
If anyone is interested in diving into this conversation and making it a reality, please join the TEEM LifeCast group in facebook. I'm hoping to generate synergy there.
