Really missing broadband…
Being here at Oma’s has been a great “wake-up” for me on how privileged I’ve been in relation to the Net. We have highspeed DSL at home in Minnesota, along with wifi throughout our house. So I can work on my computer and blog whenever the impulse strikes me. Here, however, we have dial-up access, which is quite slow, and it blocks the phone whenever we’re online, so we only do it once or maybe twice a day.
We're working on getting "breitband" -- that is, broadband -- installed at Oma's, but it's taking a couple of weeks. And in the meantime, I'm very conscious of how much I've been dependent on a high speed line. It's about time I remembered how difficult dial-up can be!</
