Buildings at Luther

Recently I was given the assignment of reading two books (The Poetics of Space, by Gaston Bachelard, and The Timeless Way of Building, by Christopher Alexander). Then, based on that reading, I was asked to identify two spaces at Luther — one living, and one deadening. I decided to begin by comparing two buildings, the Olson Campus Center, and Gullixson Hall (which is where my office is). The presentation I developed to showcase my conclusions, is now available (it’s a 10 mb file, however). It was actually quite a fun — and eye-opening — assignment. I thought some of you who know Luther might find it interesting.

Hint: it opens up in a browser, but takes a minute or more before it responds to clicking (which is how you advance it page by page).

Wow, Mary. Really interesting, and compelling given my very small experience with the seminary. Looking forward to seeing you on the 25th, and it looks like late afternoon coffee would work best. Are you available? Thanks for trying--we look forward to talking with you!
Peace,
Chris
