Advent resources
In the context of exploring the challenges of interfaith dialogue with one of my classes last week, I mentioned how the lyrics to the hymn "O come, O come Emmanuel" had become problematic for me in light of Jewish -Christian dialogue. I was trying to remember the new lyrics that had been written, but couldn’t get my brain to function properly. Fortunately, the Net is much better at memory! Here are the revised lyrics. And in finding THEM, I found a set of nice Advent resources that build upon the Jewish/Christian dialogue.

Jane Redmont commented on 07 December 2006:THANK YOU for this resource! I cringe every time we sing "O come, O come Emmanuel" and am so glad that Phil Cunningham and Ken Meltz (with whom I used to work) did such a carefully rewriting of the lyrics. I'm going to send this around. I hadn't looked at the BC site in months and I'm grateful to you for pointing out the Advent resources. Peace, Jane (who preached on the First Sunday of Advent and had to endure several verses of the old "O come, o come" because someone else had planned the liturgy -- I'm zapping him the link tonight!)
