Operation Eden

Eric sent me to this blog, entitled Operation Eden, which is a personal account of some of the survivors of the hurricane. The author is an amazing photographer, and his images speak profoundly. So much of this pain is rapidly receding from the mass mediated sphere most of us live in. It’s "so old" and no longer news, and I fear that we will forget what people are still struggling to cope with. The Red Cross is grateful for your contributions.

These images and words need to be saved and revisited, maybe published in book form so we don't forget. This is important, and somehow fits into so many different ideas swimming in my mind lately around themes of disaster and giving and sabbath and betrayal and "powers and principalities" and... that I'm struggling to gather them into something coherent. Along with our forgetting Katrina is the sad fact that other disasters are going almost unnoticed - 845+ people dead in Guatamala due to mudslides caused by tropical storm Stan.
