Prayers needed for the Gulf Coast

/ 22 September 2005

Adán has been tracking the experiences he’s had helping evacuees from New Orleans at the Houston Astrodome. Now he’s finding himself having to evacuate. It hardly seems imaginable coming so close on the heels of Katrina, but yet another very powerful hurricane is barreling into the Gulf coast. Please keep these people in your prayers!

That doesn't mean we should stop praying for the peoples of Iraq and the Middle East, however. I worry that our desperate efforts to cope with these natural disasters will not lead us to more empathy with the victims of the carnage in Iraq, but rather draw our attention away.

Towards the end of empathy, make plans now to attend the AFSC’s exhibitEyes Wide Open” which will make its Twin Cities appearance at St. Cate’s from September 29 to October 1.
