Legal Guide for Bloggers

/ 17 June 2005

The EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) has published an online legal guide for bloggers in the US. It’s full of useful answers to questions like “what legal liability issues can arise if I blog?” and “what is fair use?” It’s important to keep in mind — as the EFF reiterates — that the key thing here is to support freedom of speech, and bloggers have rights to freedom of speech and expression, and ought not be easily intimidated into silence. I suspect, although maybe it’s just paranoia on my part, that it’s entirely possible that more bloggers will be pressured in the coming years as they find ways to bypass corporate media to share information that will make a difference in people’s actions.
