Responsible Wealth

/ 16 April 2005

Here’s an interesting site that tries to promote the notion of “responsible wealth.” It’s full of useful information and links out to other articles. I was particularly interested in a piece that analyzes the ways in which the Forbes 400 members owe their ability to develop their wealth to some key public investments. Doesn’t that suggest to all of us that we have a right — and responsibility — to see that wealth derived from such investments is also shared to some degree? I’m not talking about socialism here (although maybe we should be!), but rather about the kinds of proposals made by the Responsible Wealth site. Things like reponsible estate taxes, not giving tax breaks to the most wealthy, and so on.
