Facing grief

/ 11 April 2005

I’ve been gone all weekend working with the ELCA Lifelong Learning Partners (an event that turned out to be much more nourishing than I had expected), and now I’m in the airport waiting for my plane to go home. The Fort Lauderdale airport has free wireless access! Which means I’ve been sorting through email (hundreds of messages…). A friend sent me a link to this article in the Boston Globe, which explores why and how it’s ok to explore the grief that comes from facing disabilities. I wasn’t expecting to be touched this way — I’m doing email, for gosh sakes’! — but the article brought me to tears. Which, of course, suggests I have my own grief I ought to consider exploring. Still, thanks Sherri for sharing it, and it may be useful for others.
