A difficult few days…

/ 24 August 2004

It’s amazing how “out of touch” I can feel after a couple of days of not being able to read the web. We’ve had a difficult time lately. Alex has now had one cast removed, a second cast made to model a new AFO, and yet a third cast applied. Each appointment requires showing up, waiting a long time, and then finally seeing the doctor. Actually, I take that back. Bob Jurusik, who unfortunately has no web site, is our orthotist and he is both amazing at making good braces, and very punctual. So that appointment went well. But anyway…

And now, this evening, we found one of the fire bellied toads "belly up" in the terrarium. Nathaniel has been toad sitting for his classrooms' toads over break, and one of them didn't make it. So we had an impromptu funeral and burial amidst the juniper bushes (now officially "Toad's Forest"), and we will have to break the news to his classmates at Harambee (and yes, that's his class and his teacher in the picture) that there are now only two toads. Sigh.
