Poverty and race

/ 29 July 2004

I got home last night too late to see much of the convention, but I did catch Edwards’ speech. I wasn’t thrilled about the war rhetoric and the military stuff, but I want to praise two of his themes — his claim that poverty is a moral issue — which I heartily affirm! and his claim that the right place to talk about racism is everywhere. Hurray for the Democratics that a WHITE national candidate speaking in prime time should say this.
