Jesus Walks

Eric gave me a gift this morning — he shared Kanye West’s music video “Jesus Walks” — with me. You can watch it for free at the iTunes site, but I still haven’t figured out how to link directly to it. In any case, in going to buy the song I realized that it’s from an album (The College Dropout) one of my students showed me briefly a couple of weeks ago, but didn’t have time to play for me. So now I’ve had two opportunities to engage it, and finally did. Anyway, the song is powerful, but I think the music video attached to it is even more so (at least for a white, middle class person like me who might otherwise have a hard time imaging it well).

Postscript alert: I just figured out that there are three versions of this music video available directly at Kanye West's site. The version I've been writing about is the "church version," but I think all three are powerful.
