Creative satire

/ 1 June 2004

So many creative pieces have found their way into my inbox this week! A wonderfully satirical version of the Iliad and the Odyssey, contextualized in current events and titled “The Bushiad and the Idyossey,” by Victor Littlebear; a sharp television ad that criticizes the Bush government’s connections to the oil industries (Outofgas.com); a version of the Three Little Pigs that even Nathaniel enjoys (in this version, the Bush White House changes bricks into straw); a new Mark Fiore cartoon on gun violence; and, of course, all of the joy and interest generated over the Cannes palm d’or to Michael Moore’s new film, Farenheit 911. Supporting change in this country requires this kind of creative work, and I’m excited that the Net makes it possible to share it.
