Dichotomies, polarities?

AKMA is musing about our abilities as persons to make distinctions, differentiations, but not necessarily in terms of “either/or” or for that matter, “both/and.” He proposes “both/but” as one possibility. I’m tired enough tonight that, frankly, I’m more intrigued by his music list than figuring my way through the implications here, but I think there has to be some kind of linkage to “tensegrity” that has resonance. If “tensegrity” (“tension” + “integrity”) works out to be a way to keep opposites together in stable structures by holding them together but respecting their individual integrities, could it be that the dynamism in that tensive process is the “both/but” he is talking about? I want to think about this when I’m more awake.
