Preaching U2

Raewynne Whiteley and Beth Maynard have just done the world an enormous service — they’ve edited together a sprightly, intelligent, engaging set of sermons and other resources (including an excellent adult study), based on the music of U2. I’ve only just now gotten my hands on the book, but Get Up Off Your Knees is available at a variety of online bookstores, and is a wonderful resource. It will stretch you, inspire you, make you think — but perhaps most important, bring you to prayer in an active and engaged way. Make sure you don’t skip their appendices, because both Raewynne and Beth have put together a beautifully concise, but well argued rationale for meeting God in popular culture, and provided some ideas of how to go about helping us do it.
