Was Saddam captured, or simply turned over to the US?

One of the listservs to which I subscribe (mediaecology), is debating a report that was published in DEBKA speculating that far from being “captured” or “discovered” by US troops, Saddam Hussein was delivered over to them to pick up. (The writer who sent the report to the listserv notes that DEBKA is “very conservative”). You can read the report here. I don’t know what to make of it, but I suspect the next few days will provide all sorts of interesting speculation on the Net that never makes it into mainstream media.
