The Net, Howard Dean, and grassroots democracy
I’m tired of the old media seeing new media only in instrumental ways. Should I be surprised? No. But here’s a columnist who can see the forest, not just the trees. Chris Lydon has an interesting commentary on a NYT commentary about all of this. The upswell of support for Dean is more than just a neat little “trick” of a new media tool. It’s about grassroots opposition that has finally found a decentralized, mass media way to share information.
