Seminary as Teaching Apostolate project

One small bit of humor from this past week — Luther Seminary (where I teach) issued a short “note” in their quarterly magazine announcing a grant project that Wabash has graciously funded and I will be directing. The project, Seminary as Teaching Apostolate, has to do with reflecting on the teaching practices at seminaries who have made a specific commitment to seeing North America as a “mission” field. Our magazine, however, noted that I had been named director of the “Seminary as Teaching Apostate” project. I’m not quite sure I’ll ever live this down…
