Whew! What a busy week…
This past week has been too busy to be believed… I have been teaching a one-week intensive version of my introduction to religious education. It was a great week — the students were really engaged, even though I had presented them with an enormous amount of content to process — and it was fun to work with a smaller group for a change. This experience has reminded me of how powerful Parker Palmer’s articulation of education as “to know as we are known” is, and how much his commitment to supporting people into the “courage to teach” is essential. The work he and others are doing (with the support of the Fetzer Institute) is going to have a profound impact, I think, even though the vision may take a while to permeate education.
