Open democracy, Moveon, and other thoughts…
Soon after the shooting war “started,” I posted a lot of things that Moveon.Org was pointing to. I continue to be impressed by this largely digital organization. Recently they’ve undertaken a very broad effort to figure out where to go next, which included matching people up all over the country to have hour long phone conversations about future directions. I think this is a fascinating, and likely very effective, move. I’m eagerly awaiting their next steps. I also noticed today that openDemocracy.net is engaging some interesting questions. Given the spate of discussion in some blogs lately about “echo blogging” (spawned from Rebecca’s talk, I think, but followed up elsewhere), it’s nice to see a site that is deliberately trying to encourage “contested exchanges.”
