Truth Commission on Conscience in War

/ 7 February 2011

Here’s an organization that until recently I had never heard about - the Truth Commission on Conscience in War. It is working to honor and protect freedom of conscience for our nation’s service members. In November they released a report that I think deserves much more attention than it’s gotten to date. If we expect our nation’s service members to risk their lives to protect us, then we ought to at least listen to their concerns from conscience. I realize that not everyone has a family member or friend in the military, but it is worth seeking them out. We’ve been at war now, on various fronts, for years and yet few of us have any close relationships with service members. That means we also have very little understanding of the pressures they are facing.
