The surveillance state of St. Paul

Christopher Hedges is a journalist who also has a theological degree from Harvard Divinity School. I once had the privilege of doing a directed reading with a group of students at Luther based in part on his book War is a Force That Gives Us Meaning (a book well worth reading). Why do I tell you this? So that you’ll grant his essay on the situation on the streets during the RNC here in St. Paul some authority and credibility. Over and over people here, locally, tell me it couldn’t have been that bad or they would have heard about it on the news. But that’s part of the point: this isn’t the stuff that was reported in the MSM.
