How about green stimulus?

/ 27 January 2008

I can’t express how frustrated I am with Congress right now on the so-called “economic stimulus” package, which to me is one big bribe. If we have to have one, though, why not make it aimed at something that would really make a difference? Why not hire a ton of new teachers’ aides, or build bridges, or invest in other infrastructure? Rather than simply trying to spur short term consumption? ARGH! In any case, here at least is a petition to Congress asking that they make the stimulus package one that is aimed at “go equal and go green!” — meaning, ensure that if money is spent in this way it promotes a clean energy economy and opportunities for poor and working class people.

If you need help convincing people that consumption is not the answer, send them to The Story of Stuff.
