Pastor Dan

/ 11 August 2007

I’ve been reading “Street Prophets” off and on at the DailyKos site (pointed to by Renee’s diaries). But I haven’t done so long enough, or consistently enough, to get much of a sense of who “Pastor Dan” is (he’s the founder of the landscape of Street Prophets). It turns out that he’s also the pastor of a small, United Church of Christ congregation in southeastern Wisconsin. There’s a nice piece about him in the NYTimes today, and I can’t wait to point it out to students — to help them see the ways which ministry in small town America can ALSO be about ministry on the national stage. That the two arenas are not necessarily opposites. And that the skills they are honing for ministry can have multiple outlets.
