Whose freedom?

/ 7 July 2006

Writing in an editorial in the Boston Globe on July 4th, George Lakoff asks us to consider what we mean by freedom, and points out that progressives and conservatives have VERY different ideas about what that word means.

I also found his interview on NPR last week (for which I can't seem to find an audio transcript), very interesting. Lakoff is arguing that rather than a "war against terror" what we now have in Iraq is an occupation, and clearly there is no "winning" an occupation.
