Episcopalians elect woman as presiding bishop

/ 19 June 2006

I wish that this wasn’t earth-shaking news, because somehow in the year 2006 it seems like it would be a routine kind of announcement that a national body has elected a woman to lead it. But such is not the case… In any event, Katherine Jefferts Schori has been elected presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church USA. AKMA doesn’t know her enough to be able to say anything about it, other than that he hopes she’s an adept theologian. Sarah Dylan Breuer, who’s been at the meeting, chimes in with a resounding vote of confidence in her abilities.
