Faith groups working on GLBT issues

/ 2 February 2006

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force has just released a report — appropriately entitled “David v. Goliath” — on faith groups which are working for GLBT equality. It’s an interesting report, because in addition to profiling entire denominations (such as the UCC) which have taken an affirming stance, it also profiles “affinity” organizations (such as Lutherans Concerned NA). The report is daunting in some ways, because the sheer scope of what these organizations are up against is enormous. It also details how hard it is for these organizations to find funding for what they’re doing. Still, it’s important reading — to understand the context, if nothing else.
