Design and powerpoint

/ 13 October 2005

One of my classes is moving towards an assignment in which students have to produce a meditation that includes still images and music. My first hunch is that most of them will try to use Powerpoint to do so, which is not an altogether bad choice. My second hunch is that this process — particularly seeing each other’s meditations and thinking about options — will help them to recognize some of the constraints of such a medium.

One of these students has already leapt onto the web and found some wonderful pieces reflecting on the "good, the bad and the ugly" of using Powerpoint. I was particularly psyched to see two of the links he made (Presentation Zen, and Signals vs. Noise), because they're really interesting and beautiful sites.

So... thanks Ryan!
