Precautionary principle

/ 18 May 2004

I’ve written in here before about the impact of Sandra Steingraber’s book “Living downstream” had on me. Today I was sent a link to an essay Jeremy Rifken has written in the Guardian that talks about the ways in which the European Union is working to establish “precautionary principles” as the basis for their environmental policy concerning the chemical industry. Hurray for the EU! I wish that we were as enlightened in the US. We really need to establish something similar here. Read Sandra’s book for the details of why.
