Attracting and mobilizing the “creative class”

Richard Florida (a professor of economic development at Carnegie Mellon), has a fascinating article in the Jan/Feb 2004 Washington Monthly that argues that the Republican Administration’s current “know-nothing” attitude — which, among other things, is pushing creative talent into other countries, and making it hard for such folk to immigrate here — may do more to ruin our economy in the long run than any of the other challenges people are facing.
