Apollo Alliance

I know that Bush is announcing a big new goal today — putting a station on the moon, and sending people to Mars. As much as I love science fiction, and as much as I care about continuing to explore outer space, I’m much more excited these days about a different mission with echoes of the early Apollo project: that is, the Apollo Alliance. The Apollo Alliance is a group of organizations and activists who are trying to ignite a movement to shift our energy policies in the US towards more sustainable and clean energy. I can’t help feeling that such a common goal would also help in other areas (like that of national/international security…).
