Act One

If you’re interested in “writing for Hollywood,” which these days provides opportunities in entertainment for more serious consideration of religious issues than does more typically news-oriented fare, check out the Act One site. They write: “Insurmountable obstacles. Unfathomable paradox. Incomparable heroism. Irrevocable choices. These are the terrain of great movies.  What aerobics is to the body, entertainment is to the soul.  We need stories to flex our inner potential to heights we rarely find in the prison of the workaday world.  We need stories to connect us to each other, and to set us longing to be better than we are. There are diseases of the soul that mere reality cannot cure.” It’s an interesting way of thinking about entertainment, one I increasingly find myself in agreement with. They have a great set of weblinks, too.
