Credit reporting outsourced internationally

/ 15 November 2003

EFF notes a recent article in the San Francisco SFGate.com that reports that credit reporting agencies are moving much of their operation abroad, where US privacy laws are not in operation and thus not enforceable. The data they are talking about includes social security numbers, which are often at the heart of identity theft cases. As they so vividly put it, “it’s 10 o’clock, do you know where your privacy is?”
